Are your weekends hindering weight loss

While one meal won’t ruin your weight loss, consistently eating/drinking more calories than your body needs will.

It is all too common to see someone following their ‘perfect’ diet plan Monday to Friday but then going crazy on the weekends and wondering why they are not seeing progress.

It is a lot easier to eat calories than it is to burn them. You may be in a 300-calorie deficit Monday to Friday (i.e. eating 200 less calories than you’re burning) but if you in a 800+ calorie surplus on Saturday and Sunday, you are undoing all your hard work!

While there is no need to deprive yourself of all the foods you enjoy, be smart with your nutrition on the weekends. Where possible, avoid liquid calories- fruit juice, sweet teas, and milkshakes. When drinking alcohol, opt for sugar-free drinks where possible- e.g., vodka and soda, vodka and Diet Coke. If choosing fast food, can you have smaller portions? E.g., halve the dish with a friend. Consider if you need a main AND dessert. All the small choices you make each day when it comes to food, really do add up!
